Running around like a headless chicken diminishes with age!
My kitchen window looks out over a cul de sac where children play. Rollerblades, scooters, bikes and fun and games - they are all ages and sizes and they all have one thing in common. They make me feel old. All that 'wasted' energy used for games and here's me wanting to achieve so much, but..... I'm rather looking forward to a sit down and another cup of tea!
It's not doom and gloom really though, as I am a relatively active 60 + year old but I have noticed a sharp decline in wanting to go out to play! I checked out some 'stuff' on the internet, as one does, and found some interesting articles and podcasts that made me sit up and take notice.
So my understanding is that it doesn't matter what kind of exercise you do, just don't sit still for long stretches, and, it doesn't matter much what exercise you do as long as you do it and do it on a regular basis.
JUST MOVE!
There are lots of activities that I like doing and I'm going to share a few with you over the next months, hoping to inspire you to be more active and a fresh air seeker!
It can be daunting starting something new or managing your time to do more, but it is worth it for many different reasons.
The first thing that you can do is simply stretch. So, if you are sitting down reading this and have been sitting down for a while, I challenge you to get up and stretch.
If you are lacking ideas then why not go to Youtube and search for a short stretching video or try the following to give you some inspiration,
